SUMMER! It’s finally here. For those of you who are working over the summer, I wanted to give you some fun, easy activities and therapy ideas to try.

Let’s start with some TPT items. I have a mix of free and paid resources that you can add to your summer toolbox.

Following Directions Flip Flops (free) targets 1-2 step directions with descriptors:

Summer Speech Gardening (free) is part of my larger Sailing Through Summer Speech packet. You get the complete gardening theme, which targets vocabulary, categories, and past tense verbs.

Sailing Through Summer Speech: This is the paid version, which includes 5 themes (beach, gardening, under the sea, sports, and red/white/blue). Each theme targets different skills, so you can mix and match to keep things fresh.

S.A.L.L. for ALL: Spring/Summer: This one was a labor of love.  There is now a S.A.L.L. packet for Fall, Winter and Spring/Summer, plus a bundle if you’re not familiar with them and want to save 20% on all. There are 2 summer themes in this packet, but some of the spring themes would work as well. In each non-holiday related theme, there are tons of activities!

Now onto some other fun activities that I’ve tried or want to try:

Ice Cream Dough: This is a fun, easy recipe from another blogger. I tried this and the student LOVED it. It’s a great sensory activity and garners a lot of language!

Ocean in a Bottle: I want to try this! It looks simple and would be good for a calming tool too.

-Shaving Cream: Grab some shaving cream and a cookie sheet and you have yourself a fun sensory activity that can also provide a lot of language opportunities. Grab some cars or other tools and see what happens!

-Take It Outside: This might not always be an option, but summer is a great time to get outside and see what language opportunities are out there! Go on a scavenger hunt, describe cars that you see, build something with rocks, etc. Possibilities are endless!

Dollar Store speech: I love the dollar store. You can find lots of cool things and not break the bank. I’ve used tons of these finds to build a speech session!

I hope this post has helped you come up with some new ideas to keep your summer sessions hot!
