[App Review] My Town: Hospital and Police + Giveaway
Disclaimer: A copy of both apps were provided to me; however, the opinions expressed are solely my own.
Today, I’m reviewing two different apps, My Town: Hospital and Police from My Town Games LTD. Both are available in the app store for $2.99 (prices subject to change). I’m also doing a giveaway! Two people will win a copy of both apps (enter at the end of this post).
These apps are similar to the My PlayHome apps, in that they are interactive and students can move things and people around. This makes them engaging for my younger (and sometimes older) crowd. Let’s take a closer look at each. In both apps, there are little red hearts you can collect. Once you get a certain amount, you can open a “gift” which will put a fish in the fish tank.
Here are some pictures from My Hospital. You can change or add people by clicking on the face in the upper right hand corner of the screen. My students really loved the X-Ray room!
There are a couple hospital rooms that you can go into by opening the door:
There is an elevator that will take you up or down a floor.
There is a front desk with a nurse too:
The following are pictures from My Police. There is a place where you can take a “mug shot,” get a drink of water, and change hats/hair.
There are two jail cells and you can turn the light on or off:
You can also get into the garage with the police car. You can put different sirens on the car and the car can drive out of the garage. You can also wash the car.
The office has a safe in it, plus other gadgets that will make noise.
What I Liked:
-ability to work on following directions, pronouns, possessives, vocabulary, sentence formulation, etc
-engaging for my younger and even some older students
-functional activities, particularly in the hospital
-different rooms help decrease the boredom factor!
-my students love to feed the people and make them do different actions, which was great for sentence formulation
What I Would Love To See:
-I wouldn’t change anything, other than to maybe see more of these apps! My students love the My PlayHome apps and we use them frequently, so these were a nice change of pace.
I have two codes for each app to giveaway, so there will be TWO WINNERS! Enter below:
I would probably use Hospital more, but both look great! Thanks for sharing! 🙂
They both seem great but I have a lot of little boys who would love the Police app!
I think I would use the hospital app more but both look great!
Thanks for reviewing these apps. I hadn’t heard of them. Although both apps would be useful for therapy, I think my boys would love the police app.
They both look great! I think I would probably use the police one more. Thanks for the giveaway!
I like the police app more, it looks really fun!
