Low Prep Therapy Ideas (Markers and Paper Only)

Today I’m sharing therapy ideas that only involve markers/crayons and paper. That’s it!

#1: for the first idea, you draw a grid with 10 spaces and write articulation or language words (synonyms, MM words, items to describe, really whatever) in each box. The student gets a red and green marker. If they answer correctly, color it green; if not, color it red. At the end of the session, you can quickly count up the green boxes to get a percentage.

#2: For the second idea, you can draw the sound that the student is working on. I like to section it out and then have the student use markers or crayons (here we’re actually using Kwikstix) to fill in the boxes. It’s great if they’re waiting for their turn in a group.

#3: For the third idea, get a big piece of paper and draw a road. Sometimes I draw houses, buildings, trees, etc. You can write words on the road drive the cars over them to practice!

#4: I apparently don’t have a picture of this one, but it’s a drawing activity that you do as well. I’ve done it with a snowman and house, to name a couple. After everyone’s turn, I draw the item step by step and they copy me until we’ve finished. It comes out great and they are usually really proud of it!

I hope you’ve enjoyed these ideas – really, you don’t need fancy things to do effective and fun therapy!
