Today I’m sharing my favorite winter books to use in therapy. These are ones I find myself coming back to year after year and the kids really like them. I thought I’d do a roundup post to have them all in one place. They are also not centered around a holiday, so you can change up when you use them.

Sadie and the Snowman by Allen Morgan: This is a great book for younger kids to work on sequencing, problem solving, WH questions, and more.

The Mitten by Jan Brett: I love using any of Jan Brett’s books in therapy. Her illustrations are beautiful and the lend themselves well to inferring. This book is great for sequencing, WH questions, and retell.

The Hat by Jan Brett: Again, a Jan Brett favorite! Sequencing, humor, and other skills can be targeted with this book.

The Snowman by Raymond Briggs: This is a wonderful book with no words! So really, the possibilities are endless. You can use this to target narrative and grammar skills.

There Was A Cold Lady Who Swallowed Some Snow by Lucille Colandro: These books are favorites in many a speech room. Target sequencing, WH questions, retell, etc.

The Three Snow Bears by Jan Brett: Similar to Goldilocks and the Three Bears, you can compare/contrast the two stories!

The Mitten Tree by Candace Christiansen: This is a cute story about a woman who knits mittens for all the children in the town. You can do some fun follow up crafts, answer WH questions, and use the illustrations for predictions.

These are just some of my favorites! What winter books do you like to use?
