Videos for Teaching Context Clues
Hello, friends! I only have a few more weeks of school left; however, I’ve been looking for new ways to teach context clues to my students. A lot of my students have reading deficits in addition to language weaknesses, so I often need to find creative ways to work on skills that won’t further frustrate them.
I usually introduce the topic with some free YouTube videos. Here are my favorite videos for context clues (disclaimer – make sure to watch them beforehand for ads):

I have created some activities that focus on context clues. My favorite ones are my seasonal inference cards with Tier 2 Vocabulary (fall, winter, and spring versions). You can work on inferences, listening comprehension, and context clues which gives you a lot of bang for your buck! I also have a context clues section in this Flip & Clip: Independent Work, and in all my language flip books (fall, winter, spring, non-seasonal). There also are some pages in my S.T.O.P. packet and my 10 Minute Language Flip Book.
I’d love to hear how you work on context clues! Leave me a comment!
