Speech Suitcase: Verbs
If you missed my earlier posts in this series, be sure to check them out: describing, main idea, synonyms/antonyms, WH Questions, listening comprehension, story retell and context clues. Today, we’re talking about verbs. I find that my students struggle the most with past tense verbs.
Here is what’s in my suitcase:
- Past Tense Verb Mats: This is one of my newest resources but I’m so excited about it. It’s based on research too. I wanted a resource that would help my student have multiple opportunities to practice the verbs, but I also wanted to vary the context around the verb. As you can see below, there are 8 different opportunities to practice each verb, but the sentences vary. Students can practice reading the sentences as well.
- Super Duper verb cards: These are great real life pictures that come in pairs so I’ve used them for matching, Go Fish, etc.
3. Visual Verb Sentences: These include real pictures, but also visual cues for each word in a simple sentence.
4. Flip & Clip: Verbs: I love flip books as you know. I have tons, but this one gets a lot of use!
Those are some of my favorite resources for teaching verbs! What are yours?
