End of the School Year Reflections
Another school year came to a close. I loved working with the same people again this year and feeling comfortable right from the beginning of school instead of learning the ropes again at a new location. The end of a school year always brings forth a river of feelings. Relief, excitement, possibly some sadness, and looking towards the next year, which seems to occur much faster than anyone actually wants it to.
This year was a bit like a roller coaster. By the time we reached the end of the year, I felt like a drained battery. I definitely need some time to recharge my battery! So what are my plans for the summer?
Spend time with friends and family. Sleep in. Work on my long TPT to-do list. Lay by the pool. Move into a new apartment. Take some CEU courses. Did you hear ASHA is offering some free CEUs?!?! Click here for more information on that. Shop. Enjoy some good ole relaxation! Maybe work a little. Read. Exercise. Cook. Smile.
Yes, I’m already thinking about next school year. Why? Because I’m always on a quest to do things smarter and make my life (and maybe yours) a little easier. I have some ideas up my sleeve to try and help my students more this year. I tried a few different things this year that I’d like to explore some more. The end of the year always prompts some thinking about what worked well and what didn’t work so well. I liked planning for the month instead of weekly. My kids really enjoyed my interactive/reverse interactive books, so I’d like to make more of those.
I already updated my goal spreadsheet for next year, which will make going back a little easier. I organized my file cabinet and materials before I left school. I think I’m moving locations this year, so that will require some decorating and whatnot in the fall.
If you are done with your school year, what thoughts do you have about this year and/or next year?
