Alphabet Toys!
As a mom and SLP, I’m looking for toys that my toddler loves playing with as well as ones that will help her learn things. Over this past summer, my daughter became very interested in the alphabet and letters, so I thought I’d do a blog post on our favorite alphabet toys!

Elmo’s On the Go Alphabet: We love that this comes in a handy carrying case! It’s a favorite to take in the car. My daughter loves taking the letters out, naming the letter and character/item underneath, and putting the letters back in. This summer, we learned all the letters just using this toy! Now we’re working on letter sounds, and she knows about 7 of those. We also used these to work on colors.
Wooden Alphabet Puzzle: This is not the exact one that we have, but it’s similar. It’s another way to work on letters and colors!
Leapfrog Fridge Phonics: We don’t own one of these yet, but she’s used them at a friend’s house and she loves them (I plan to buy this for her for Christmas).
Vtech Alphabet Apple: She’s played with this at a friend’s house and also likes this one.
Truthfully, you don’t need any toys to work on the alphabet. I’ve just drawn letters on paper or with chalk on our sidewalk and my daughter loves that just as much. She also loves pointing out letters that she sees on buildings or trucks. I’ve been impressed with how quickly she’s picked up the letters and now some of the sounds, but I’m not pushing it on her. As long as she’s interested in it, we’ll keep working on it but I know she’s still young!
These toys can also be worked into speech therapy sessions as well. What alphabet toys do you love?
