Ask THIS Question After Reading a Book

I love, love, love using books in therapy. Any book really. We work on the usual WH questions, sequencing, inferences, etc. But my absolute favorite thing to do at the end of the session is to ask this question:

My students love looking back in the book and picking their favorite part of the story. I always follow up with “why was that your favorite part?” It’s an awesome way to further examine expressive language skills, grammar, etc. If you have time, you can even go around the group and see if they remember what part each person liked best.

Happy reading!
