Dear Speech & Language Students:

As another school year is nearing its end, I’m remembering why I do what I do. I do this because I like to think that I’m making even a small difference in one of your lives. I have lots of hopes for you.

I hope that you enjoyed coming to or receiving speech therapy this year.

I hope that you learned while you were with me, but that you also had some fun.

I hope that something you learned with me carried over to your classroom or outside life.

I hope that you knew what you skills you were working on and why.

I hope that you felt that I listened to you: your words, your gestures, your body language, or your communication device.

I hope that you enjoy your summer – that you get to be a kid and return refreshed in the fall.

I hope that I let you make mistakes, because that’s how we learn.

I hope that you went home and told your parents what we did in speech just once.

I hope that you’ll continue practicing your skills over the summer.

Most of all, I hope that I offered you a safe place to learn, grow, and dream of what you want to be when you grow up.

Love,

Your SLP
