When I was contacted to review these social skills videos, I was excited because I’ve been using my own version of video modeling in my therapy room this year and the kids are very motivated by it. Everyday Speech also has an app called Let’s Be Social, but these videos are standalone purchases through their website. Why is that awesome? You can purchase one video, bundles, or get access to the whole library. You can also watch the videos from any computer or tablet (you can download them so you can watch them offline), which is great.
First things first, as a follower of my blog,  YOU have a unique opportunity! Once you sign up via this link: http://www.myeverydayspeech.com/social-skills-videos/?ref=TeachSpeech365, you get:
-A guaranteed 50% off promo code, with no limits on purchase size
-A chance at 1 of 20 free video packages (randomly chosen)

Here is a list of all the videos that are currently available:

The videos are narrated and there are key words that are shown in text for things like emotions. All the videos are pretty short, which is great to keep students’ attention. This week, I played a video with one of my groups and we discussed it – by the end, they were begging for more! The videos show the inappropriate way to act, followed by a short discussion/explanation and then it shows the appropriate way to act.

Here are some pictures so you can see what it really looks like:

This picture is from the “Taking Turns In Conversation.” All the videos have a short verbal introduction:

Explaining
This picture is from the “Being A Good Sport” video. One of the girls gets upset when her turn doesn’t go as she’d hoped and she ends up ruining the game for the others. Feelings
This picture is from the “Not Getting Your Way” video. Learning
This picture is from the “When Others Break The Rules” video. OlderGroup
This picture is from the “Public vs. Private” video. The videos also feature “thought bubble” style feedback. The characters are shown in a thought bubble and describe how they’re feeling in a particular situation. This is great if you’re talking about being flexible thinkers and perspective taking!
Thoughts
What I Like:

-Videos have real kids

-Videos are short, so they keep my students’ attention

-I love how they incorporate perspective taking with the thought bubbles

-The topics are relevant to a variety of ages

What I Would Love to See:

-More videos!! This is already a GREAT tool for effectively teaching social skills. My students are already begging for more!

Again, sign up using this link: http://www.myeverydayspeech.com/social-skills-videos/?ref=TeachSpeech365 and someone will win 20 free videos!! The tentative release date for the videos is May 4th, so not too far away! Thank you to Everyday Speech for this wonderful opportunity!
