Fine Motor Activities for Toddlers

Today I’m sharing some fine motor activities for toddlers. Though my little girl is almost 4 (cue the mom tears), we have been working hard these past months to build up her fine motor skills, as this was an area that she was having some difficulty in.

I made her a preschool book that has some tracing pages included (it’s editable for your child/student – find it here). We started working on writing her name and it prompted me to make some pages that I laminated so we could practice and not waste paper. A few of you messaged me to ask me to post them so I did that here (and it’s free).  I’m obviously not an OT, but the boxes have helped her to stay within a certain area on the page. I also made pages with the rest of the alphabet that we have been using to practice most nights.

Initially, she was very resistant to doing this but as we practiced and she got better, she is so proud of herself. We are much better with letters that have straight lines, versus the ones with curvy lines but I’m guessing that’s pretty typical at her age. I’m sure she’s also glad her name is short and only has three letters haha!

Other books that we have include:

I also got her some scissors that pop back open. We’ve been using those since Christmas.

Hope this gives you some ideas to work with your own child or younger students!
