How I Take Data

Everyone has their own way to take data and today, I’m sharing mine! I still do take paper data and then I bill for Medicaid (yes, I realize it’s technically doing it twice but I have a system that works for me). My district has logs that I just customize to each student, so I didn’t have to create my own.

Here’s a data tip to make it easier to count (click here). This past year, I started taking data a little bit differently. While I still take some kind of data every session, I no longer do it for the entire session. I will usually do it in the beginning and then put away the logs. I realized that I was focusing a little too much on the data taking part and not enough on the teaching part, so this has helped.

I know some people like to do digital data, but I just haven’t switched over because my system works for me. Another reason I like paper logs is that I have all my data in a binder, so when it comes time to write progress reports, I only need my binder to do so.

Do you take data digitally or on paper?
