Kick Off the 2015-2016 School Year
Tomorrow is the first day for students today. Very late, I know! I’ll be envying all of you who get out in May, when we’re still going to almost the end of June. Alas, the anticipation and excitement of another school year begins. Although the stress of making my schedule, getting my room prepped, and designing therapy plans had me pulling out my hair last week, I know it’s all worth it.
When I see my little friends excitedly come through the doors, it will reaffirm my career choice. I will welcome the hugs, hellos, and conversation that follow. I will vow to be the best SLP I can be for another school year and beyond.
The stress that I may feel at various points throughout the year does not compare to a student’s face lighting up when something clicks. It will not compare to dismissing another articulation student. It will not compare to seeing a student successfully use his augmentative communication device.
We’re all in this together. For the good of the students. To teach them, as well as learn something from them. Rock on SLPs, right into the 2015-2016 school year!!
