November Themed Therapy Ideas
The month of giving thanks is upon us. This is such a great month for therapy because there are tons of different themes you can focus on. The obvious one is giving thanks. Others include the harvest, family, feasts, football, and more. I’ve rounded up some of my favorite activities below:
1. I’m Thankful For…: This is a freebie that can be used with articulation students. There is also a full version available if you enjoy it.
2. Thank You Notes freebie: This is appropriate to use year round, but Thanksgiving is great time to work on writing thank you notes! Your students can work on oral language and written language skills!
3. Fill the Thanksgiving Table Reverse Interactive Book: While reading this book, you get to fill the Thanksgiving table with delicious food.
4. Turkeys: This is something I did a couple years ago. Cut out a turkey shape (from here) and cut out feathers from different colors. You can add words or pictures to the turkey or feathers.
5. Flag craft: Veteran’s Day is in November. You can print out a flag template and have your students color them in, write artic words on them, etc.
6. Describe pumpkins, squash, etc: buy some assorted gourds at the grocery store and bring them in. Your kids can describe them (<— great EET activity), write about them, etc.
7. Thanksgiving Highlights from Panicked Teacher:
8. The Story of Thanksgiving Emergent Reader by Cahill’s Creations:
9. A Plate Full of Thanksgiving Craftivity from The Dabbling Speechie:
10. Roll a Turkey from Cori Bloom:
These are just some ideas! Easy to implement, garners tons of artic/language opportunities, and engaging! What are you doing this November?
