Pros and Cons of Being a School-Based SLP

I’ve now switched back to being a full time school based SLP and I’m 3.5 months in. I resigned from the schools in June 2022 soon after having my second child. Circumstances led to me needing to return to the county that I used to work for. When I say school based SLP, I’m talking about being a district employee, not a contractor.
Pros:
-school schedule and school hours
-summers off plus holidays and winter/spring break
– PTO that can be used for sick days
-paid for snow days, weather delays
-working with groups
-you get to be a generalist
-being in a school building means you get to collaborate with teachers and other professionals
Cons:
-sometimes need to have larger groups than you’d like
-administration may or may not be supportive
-you might be split between schools
-scheduling can be tough
-deadlines can be overwhelming if you aren’t organized
