Speech Suitcase: Retelling
It’s time for another speech suitcase – this time I’m talking about retelling!
If you missed my earlier posts in this series, be sure to check them out: describing, main idea, synonyms/antonyms, WH Questions, and listening comprehension.
Let’s get to it! Here are my favorite things to use for retelling:
- Retell Visual (free): I made this last year and the combination of the visual support and closing the tabs has really helped at least one of my students with retell.
- Story in a Can (Busy Bee Speech): This is geared more towards narratives, but I like to use it for story retell too. I’ll use the coins to tell a story and then have the student retell it.
- Story telling Stick Ups (free): These are really great for younger students who need visuals. You can stick these right in the book and then they can turn to the page and retell that specific detail.
- Story Grammar Marker: SGM has a bunch of great resources for retelling. I have the small Braidy that I will often give my students to help them retell a story.
- Ice Cream-y Cones (free): Another free resource with visuals provided that help students retell big points. What do you use for story retell?
